Welcome to the Museum

A must-see in Lyon, the Musée des Confluences has plenty of surprises in store for you. A quick round-up of things to absolutely see and do!
Exhibition to visit right now
Journeys through time and on all 5 continents, the exhibitions tell the story of humankind and their place in a living world and address such great universal subjects as the origins of the earth and life itself. With 3 or 4 temporary exhibitions a year and a permanent itinerary composed of 4 rooms, there’s certainly an exhibition for you at the Musée des Confluences!
Dinosaurs, moondust, samurai armour, Tasmanian wolves, minerals and fossils, astronomical telescope, Egyptian mummies… Marvel at the beauty and diversity of collections encompassing natural history, the human sciences and science and technology. With a ticket valid for the whole day and for all the exhibitions, why deprive yourself? 😉
On your own, as a family or with your children (free admission for them), explore the exhibitions that best match your interests – there’s something for everyone!
Every visit to the Museum is different
Shows, concerts, lectures, film screenings… there’s always something happening at the Museum. Take a look at the programme (in French) so as to be sure not to miss out on any events!
Multifaceted architecture
Designed by the Austrian agency CoopHimmelb(l)au, the Museum doesn’t have a main façade but rather a multitude of facets which, depending on viewpoints, create a unique, fluid and ever shifting outline. An ideal playground for photography buffs! Share your best images on social media with the hashtag #museedesconfluences!
Feel like taking a look inside? If you do, you can access some of the building’s areas free of charge and without an admission ticket. Explore its light-filled entrance hall, take the walkway that winds around the Gravity Well, and admire the views of Lyon and Mont Blanc from the terrace. And when you come back down, stop off at the book and gift shop in the entrance hall.
The confluence
The Musée des Confluences enjoys an outstanding geographical location at the confluence of the Rhône and the Saône.
Behind the building, the garden invites visitors to stroll down to its tip and admire a unique view of the south of Lyon – and discover the Museum from a new angle into the bargain.
